NPR’s Life Kit series recently posted an article (in comics form, yay!) on easy, science-backed ways to boost your mood instantly. I figured this might be something you’d find helpful right now, especially with the dark days to come.
I haven’t tried all the suggestions in the article—cold plunges seem particularly sus to my Asian sensibilities, even though my white friends keep insisting that they are refreshing and even, at times, enlightening—but I can vouch for the positive effects of making art when you’re feeling hopeless.
It doesn’t have to be good art. It’s the act of making that helps. So here it is, my small, quick action for today:
I went to my closet, grabbed the first thing I saw, threw it on the bed and made a five-minute sketch. I didn’t have the right colours, and I couldn’t figure out how to get the drape of the fabric right, but I really do feel better than before I did it.
Ok, now you try!

I can vouch for the walk, as I often feel better after taking one. Making art is a good idea! And I have never even heard of ASMR -- have you??
